The classroom environment is interactive where participative learning permits a free flow of ideas between faculty & students. Members of the faculty facilitate this by adopting a wide variety of teaching - learning methods such as group discussion, case studies, presentations, analytical sessions, seminars & formal lectures. Wherever applicable the theory is amply complemented through simulations and experiential learning and in a nutshell provides an excellent platform for honing management and leadership skills.
The teaching and learning resources facilitate in exploring ideas and knowledge, collaborate, solve problems and develop knowledge and skills. In addition faculty members at SSBF use various teaching pedagogies to ensure that students are actively involved in their learning. We even encourage students to do various certifications which are relevant to the banking and finance sector. Apart from, reference materials carefully selected digital technology resources are also used to enable students to access global connections and resources while also encouraging new ways of thinking.
Bloomberg terminal and Capital Line database access for teaching and research
The Bloomberg and Capital Line terminals provide access to the world’s most sophisticated news, data and analytics platform on an online and real time basis. Access to this terminal enhances the quality education in all finance related courses. Students would experience a holistic approach to learning the course from both theoretical and a practical standpoint. Faculty could develop case studies and simulate financial markets using Bloomberg’s communication system, trade messaging and OTC trading tools. The Bloomberg’s people databases as well as job postings could be leveraged to reach potential associates and recruiters, and to build the Institute’s brand.
The program offered at Symbiosis School of Banking and Finance includes courses such as Securities and Commodities, Derivatives, Securities Analysis and Portfolio Management and Mergers & Acquisitions. These courses require a practical understanding of the financial markets in addition to theoretical background. The department has made available a Bloomberg terminal to facilitate the teaching learning process in these courses.
